Could somebody send me a picture to show me if the air flow sensor is mounted with the plug up or down? Mine is up and it seems to be slightly hitting the hood and causing a chafe on the underside and a dent on the top. There isn't any room to adjust. Note that wires are brittle and probably won't take a lot of wiggling.

Take a look at the bottom right hand part of this photo... I think it shows the connector to the MAF mounted on the bottom, and is to the best of my knowledge, the way Porsche and God intended it to be ;>))
I can't check it as the car is in winter storage. Best of luck![

Upside down as well. I removed it, and tried to mount it otherways. There is only one way that fits right, which is down.

Well I changed it today to the down position. Easy to do but BOY ARE THOSE WIRES GETTING BRITTLE. A lot of care is needed when moving that stuff around. Maybe my car is just in rougher shape than most due to previous abuse by the PO. Drives good - the temperature here was 15C yesterday and I have driven the car about 1500 km in two days. Great for January!!
I also note that fixing those wires that were chaffed and discussed in the post about the fan being on has REALLY settled down my voltmeter, brightened my interior lights and improved my idle. (you should see what it did to the car as well - LOL).
Gotta love a girl with a smooth idle. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
