Full Version: Hatch Motor Issue

So my hatch motor seized up last week when I tried to open the hatch. It actually kept trying to open without me knowing it, and proceeded to drain my battery. Anyway, I pulled the motor and replaced with a tested "good" replacement from a Porsche recycler. I install the replacement, turn the key and ....

Nothing. Well, not nothing.. it did blow the fuse associated to the circuit. I am assuming I got a bad motor. The seller responded and has no problem swapping the item or issuing a refund. But before I make it his problem (He is being a really good merchant), I want to make sure I am not missing anything. I did try to run the motor unconnected to the cable, to make sure it wasnt a seized cable or anything... still nothing. Is there any sort of relay in this path that could be the culprit? Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance for any direction. I have a new issue seemingly daily, but it is only because I am trying to invest time and care into a ride where the PO let some little stuff go over time.
Check all the wires to the motor, if it ran long enough this could have heated the wires along the run somewhere melting the insulation and allowing it to ground out.

Just a thought
Don't freak me out. I hate the thought of pulling trim to trace back a burned out wire. Still, I will check in the AM. Thanks for the idea.
So I have narrowed the gremlin. The hatch motor works fine with the driver's side hatch release. However, any attempt to use the key to open the hatch results in a blown fuse. I saw a post about the lock tab which activates the microswitch that triggers the motor. However, even manually triggering the microswitch with my finger results in the same blown fuse.

I am halfway to a functional hatch! Any ideas to bring me home??
