So in the ongoing effort to restore my coupe, I am at a point where I am trying to heal the aftermath of a disastrous wax job by the PO. Not only did he basically ruin the paint of with tons of swirls, all of the rubber seams and seals were left with a wax residue to bake and discolor the rubber. I am wondering if there is any restorative process available short of replacing all of the exterior rubber bits. Any thoughts or tips are greatly appreciated.
you would spend a lot more time trying to fix the stuff than just replacing them - they only cost about 100 bucks for the whole kit and kaboodle, and won't take but 2 hours to install - email me your phone number - i'll be happy to walk you through the process

Green, lacquer thinner will remove the residue and restore the rubber to black. Then follow with a good rubber treatment.

Thanks Tom. I am going to try cleaning and treating before replacing. Worth a shot. I will post results.
You could also try hot water with an old tooth brush.
Meguiar's #40 rubber/vinyl cleaner is great with an old toothbrush...

lol - i already turned him on to the purple meguier's stuff - best danged thing on rubber i have ever found (not good for plastic though)
