Apparently last night a drunk driver decide to pay the rear end a visit.

well, if that's a del sol, the good news is that you could graft the back of that car onto the 968 and have a real coupe - that would be very cool

I could pull the gauges out of it though... my 93 del sol had backlit gauges...

i'm thinking that entire section around the back window - drop that in, mold in as necessary - add new back window to fit - replace rear section of 968 with cab panels and boot lid

i am just nto a hatchback guy - never liked them - too practical

completely understand. I flip flop on selling my coupe for a cab. I look at pics of cabs and drool. I drive my car and wander if I would appreciate the sacrifices.



I'm not crazy about the hatch but do love the look of my car. Hatches in pics dont look as good as they do in person. I do think that cabs look more modern.

Sorry about the car Saxman and hope no one was hurt. Looks like the Del Sol was in good shape, bummer.

I presume the driver of the other vehicle was ok... they said they have him in jail, not the hospital/morgue.

The frustrating thing about it is that I was selling the vehicle, have had a buyer lined up for a while that's been eager to get it, and had finally scheduled a time to make the transaction in a week or so. He's been after the car since before I got the 968.

If the buyer has been that desirous of having the car, why not still do the deal - at, of course, an adjusted price? The car certainly looks repairable, and the new owner can get the work done to his satisfaction.

Disagree

This obviously wasnt your fault, so its going to cost you zero to get the repairs done (assuming the guy has insurance). Find the best place for the work to be done and let the future owner know about the damage, send him that pic. It may not be a deal breaker.

The photo posted may be a bit misleading.





I would be EXTREMELY surprised if the car is not totalled... keep in mind, this is a car that's only worth $3-4k. Based on the rear wheel being off at a weird angle, there's likely frame or suspension damage. The rear quarter panel is wrinkled all the way up to the door, etc.

Your eyes are obviously better than mine - I can't see the rear wheel at all.

In some circles, that's known as an "unfair advantage". But, that's what I get for reading the post and not paying attention to who make the post. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wacko.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

got the car up in the air today... the rear right lower control arm is bent something fierce... as is the subframe. The nut that's welded to the subframe for the control arm to bolt to is no longer welded to the subframe.







Hopefully the police department will finish up the police report so that insurance can move forward with this.
