Hi, does any one have any info on using a small scissor hydraulic lift for the garage. It is a low rise highest height is 26". The brand I am looking at is Bend Pak runs about 1500. Let me know if any one has any thoughts about these lifts, Thanks

i've been wrestling with this now for over a year - still haven't pulled the trigger - still have to find one that i can drive over with the porsche, or create ramps to drive on

Flash, I have the bend-pak mid lift ( 48" max height) and I have no problems in my low ceiling garage. It can be used at any height up to 48". It has locks along the trip to max height. I do use a couple 2x10s to drive on so there is no issue with clearance. The boards are removed while working on the car.

I too have been thinking about a lift and maybe a big garage. But here is my opinion for what it is worth. (a penny)

A scissor lift costs about the same amount as a regular lift.

A scissor lift blocks you from being able to work on the center portion of the car while a regular lift with the two arms allows you full access. A scissor lift could be made level with the floor so you could park over it while a regular lift would be somewhat troublesome to park between. My ceilings in my garage are 10 feet high. So using a regular lift I would be able to lift my coupe up approximately 4 ft off the floor. In order to lift it all the way you need about a 12- 14 foot ceiling.

I can work on my cars with my scissors lift in the drivetrain and suspension areas--just not the floor pan past the 4' open center. Recessed, you can walk over it without tripping, much less have trouble with a car driving over it.

Man that is so nice. I would love something like that!

What make is that lift?

It's a BendPak. I'm not the first to recess it--in fact the company now publishes a plan for the concrete work to allow the installation.
I cut out a big "u" of concrete in my floor, dug down, recompacted, rebar'd and made forms. A friend did the concrete work and my tractor & I did the install. I also made a cover for the tunnel between the two lift parts.
Can't believe I ever did without a lift. And although I had thought I wanted a two-poster, I can do what I need to with this lift and won't be tripping over arms and running into posts.
My ceiling height puts the roof of the 968 3" from it with the lift at full height.
