Hi all.

First time at starting a topic, so if it's in the wrong place, I apologise and please feel free to put me right.



I have a '92 Coupe and want to fit the cruise control option. Has anyone here done this and if so is it a DIY install, or do I need to get it to a specialist?



I intend to do a lot of touring in europe and the cruise option would be of great benefit to me.

I guess wth no replies, I should not try this on my own.

I, for one, was not aware that cruise control was anything but standard on all 968s. I've installed aftermarket cruise control units on several cars, but I have no idea what's involved in retrofitting a 968 factory unit. Undoubtedly, the biggest challenge is the wiring, but I guess if you have the wiring diagrams you could figure that out.

It's been my experience that most cars are already wired for the option. They just didn't add the hardware. So If you can get the hardware from a wrecked 968, then you'll probably find that the wiring is in place. It usually costs the factories more not to include it and have to make a line change than to just include it on every car that comes down the line. Good luck and happy hunting.

I have got hold of the column stalks, the cruise "ECU" and some other hard ware. It's tracing the wiring that is the problem, but you're right, if the wiring is in place it should be ok.

What would help, is if someone could provide photos of wher the multi plug connectors come through the firewall into the engine bay and the other end that comes into the car interior.
