Throw out bearing.

Alex -
I don't know from your post specifically when (engine on, engine off, car stopped, car in motion, etc.) the noise is occuring, but noise and roughness in the clutch mechanism can be caused by wear and lack of lubrication in the release fork bearings. These posts provide additional info: http://www.968forums.com/index.php?showtopic=1172, and http://www.968forums.com/index.php?showtopic=1540.
Good luck.

For clarification - are you really talking about the clutch, or the clutch pedal mechanism?

Hi, thanks for the replies.
I have just opened the hood and stood by the the door while operating the clutch pedal, loud squeaking after a couple of pumps. It maybe happening all the time but I only normally hear it when pulling away, coming to a stop, low speed and especially in heavy traffic. Where should I be looking? Will lubing solve the issue?
Thanks again Alex

Just tried engine off no squeaking, engine on squeaking everytime during push and release but stopped squeaking after about a dozen rapid cycles. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/unsure.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
