thanks guys. the bill is coming due soon and this really helps.
Hey Flash, seemed like a good place to say thanks to you as well. It is certainly a pleasure that we get the opportunity to contribute something, or like some .. perhaps to pay it back, and others to pay it forward. We all really appreciate everything you do for the community and enhance our appreciation of these terrific cars.

a big thank you goes out to L8APEXER who just became a Supporter

donations like these help curtail our ever-increasing operational costs (they've doubled in the last year, and are about to go up dramatically again)

thanks again to everybody who has helped out.
What comprises the majority of the cost? There may be ways many of us can help in addition to direct cash infusion.
lol - tax stuff is a lot of it. then there is hosting, licensing, and all that. events, promotions, and such cost us too. all in though our annual costs will be nearly $2000 this year, and going forward.

upcoming will be a major software change. that one will be a one time cost, but is likely to take quite a bit of "geek time" that we will have to pay for. still trying to make the plans for that one.

we're managing, and the sponsors and donations really go a long way toward offsetting the costs, but we always operate in the red. it was never intended to be a profiting business though. we intentionally want to keep it as close to zero as possible. anything that comes in goes right back into it.

that's what sets us apart from other sites. we are not motivated by profit, and consequently can take the high road and be very selective about our sponsors and such. you won't see us whoring ourselves out to every advertiser under the sun. nor will you see us charging the members just so that they can see pictures and use the system.
Whadd'ya mean, geek time is free baby! Open sores!

Seriously though, with this membership, we might not need to pay for geek time... Just a thought.
believe me when i tell you that we are thinking and considering all options. still haven't made the final decision on which software to use yet though, so it's still a bit off.
just donated 50 to the cause -- you guys are great!
Thank you Fleetwood, this is truly a labor of love...whatever it takes this site will always be free to members (but not to owners <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> )

Actually, I'm not pitching open sores. I'm just offering my geek time - I've developed and maintain a *lot* of web sites.

fleetwood has become a booster

chamm has stepped up and become an advocate

thanks a bunch guys!
In the fundraising field names are often published or given some sort of visual recognition. This often has more value to donors than anything else. People just like to see their names posted and have others see their names posted. Just some things I've run across!
Does this mean I should give me bra a tee-shirt?

It's part of what I do... In addition to all my corporate web sites (there are three) I also have personal web sites and I've developed sites to help support each of the forums I used to frequent before becoming interested in P-cars again.

When I was interested in restoring Farmall Cub tractors, I developed a searchable parts database that shows the images of all the parts pages and allows a search for any part on the tractor right down to washers. That might seem like no big deal nowadays, but this is for tractors made in the 1940's. It also has a downloadable gallery of parts and implements manuals (there's no copyright on them).

Then I developed a system that helps CNC machine hobbyists search and share thousands of free models for shapes, signs, jigs and fixtures, etc.

Maybe eventually I'll develop something for the P-Car community, but the muse hasn't struck me yet.

No problem...this site is an invaluable resource.

To echo tamathumper's comments, there are probably a lot of resources on the board that may be interested contributing their skills. I operate a cloud hosting and a web design company and would be happy to offer our services.

Let me know if I can be of help
