Do the general road rules apply to bicyclists? Talk about stupid people. I almost hit a guy coming out of my office parking lot. He was going against traffic. I see that I have an oppertunity to get out of my parking lot because we are on a busy street. I start to take a right and as I look forward, this guy on a bike is passing right in front of me going opposite to the flow of traffic. He yells at me for almost hitting him. I yell back colorful words to tell him to ride on the correct side of the street. Then he gave me the finger. I wanted to run him over if I could but he wasn't worth going to jail over. Aren't bicyclists supposed to obey the rules of the road when they are on the road? There is no sidewalk crossing our driveway at work. So it's not like he was riding in the cross walk. He was also one of these cyclists that was all dressed up in his cycling outfit too so he should know better. Stupid people are everywhere, but I admit that I have my stupid moments too.
in california, bicycles are subject to the same laws as cars - they must ride in traffic, in the correct direction, and stay to the right side (unless turning left)
side note: if the rider is over 16, they are prohibited from riding on the sidewalk
When did a ghey outfit become the prerequisite for cycling?
about the same time that they started wearing shirts that look like the ones the pros wear with sponsors names, but they aren't their sponsors - dumbest thing i've seen in a while

Love the spelling. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
I especially love it when an old fat guy like me is practically having a heart attack going up the hill sweating like a pig, but gut hanging out, and he is dressed like Greg freacking LeMond.

You've spotted me, huh?
many cities have cycle lanes. as gas prices continue to do what they do, more is needed. Its a good idea.
Sharing a road dominated by 3000+ lb cars is dangerous. I tend to swing out into the opposite lane and or yield a bit when passing. What gets me is when I see them behaving as if they're bike has a motor installed as they pedal down the middle of the street at 20mph. One word for those guys. "OTHERS"
