So, can we get a compilation of shops where we take our babies? Could be very useful for newbies, people who are moving and people going on roadtrips. I personally could benefit from this.

West LA - Between Venice and Washington right by the 405. This guy knows this car. Just had timing and bal shat belts changed (plus water pump, thermostat, etc). He called to tell me that the previous bal shaft belt was installed off by one tooth, and that the previous thermostat (which I had installed last Nov at AutoWerkStat in Manhattan Beach) was also done incorrectly with the wrong seal so it wasn't seating properly. The car now runs cooler, quieter and smoother, and maybe it's just in my head, but I swear it feels quicker too. Don't expect cheap (today's bill: $2433 - also included VarioCam inspection - which he took pictures of for me - compression check, oil change and crankshaft seal replaced) but expect it to be done right. He used the Gates belts and distilled water to replace the coolant. Solid, German dude.

These guys have done a lot of work for me, ranging from lowering my car, fixing my head gasket and replacing my rod bearings. They know their stuff...all work completed in a timely manner and done right!
Charleston, SC. FANTASTIC work. did my D1RSC install, and they handle tons of cars each week that are worth 15x our cars. Owner used to race (and win) with 944. European Road and Racing (www.europeanroadandracing.com)
I have Einers Porsche in Houston do my 968 work..He has only three counting mine he has worked on..but is a good mechanic and has a porsche mechanic that works on the older porsches..He's getting usually 150.00 an hour for his work..he's in Houston Tx..also another good shop is Eurocar Works..haven't gone there yet..

Heard lot of good things about Einers as well.   Another good local place is The Garagisti off Hempstead Hwy (The Garagisti).  He's worked on my 92 as well as several other transaxle porsches I know of.
Doesn't matter which garage it is provided there is good supervision ....
