I'm looking at buying a 968 for a ITR race car project. The needs to have a rear hatch installed - it's shattered.

I was told by the seller that a 944 hatch fits - can anybody confirm this?

The bigger question - how much can I expect to pay for a new hatch? Either a 944 or a 968 parts.

Thanks folks

Searching - 968 race car project

OK - I'm a newb - found the answer in 2 seconds - all interchangable...
New hatch if you can find one from a dealer (most likely have to be shipped from gremany) approx. $5800

A good used one from a wrecking yard $900 to $1300.

Yea you can use a 944 hatch with no problems.

You should be able to find a 944 hatch for $50
If its a race car wouldn't you want to replace hatch glass with lexan?

Regards,

Jay
Yeah, the lexan option seems the better option.

Let me know if you want to sell the spoiler and hardware.
I have an original hatch, if you're interested.

Not looking to spend more than a couple hundred, dont really need a whole hatch. PM me your asking price. I could come and pick it up.
Are you just looking for the glass?
Thanks for the good info on hatches.

Per the competition rules in ITR you cannot use Lexan - a good thing because that would add to the cost of racing dramatically.

If I buy this beater - I'll be sure to follow up on the hatch offers.

I would be curious as to your asking price for the hatch also. I bought my car in pristine condition except for one main flaw. Someone tried to close the hatch or the like on a large object and it put a 4" * 2" scratch right in the middle of the glass. Of course 3 of the defrost heater wires are gone with that. Price of a new glass is out of the question, I mean I could get coil-overs and a RDB exhaust system for the same price!
