I have a '93 968 that will not lock electrically from the outside. When I turn the key to lock either door both lock posts will jitter and then stop. I can still manually lock the doors. If I lock the doors from either lock post it locks electrically just fine. The key works fine to unlock both doors electrically. The console switch works fine to lock and unlock both doors. Any ideas?
Im not sure what you're saying. So, the center switch locks and unlocks the doors, and pushing the lock nobs down locks both doors, and the key will electronically unlock both doors, but it wont lock them? It may be a stupid question, but your not trying to lock the doors before closing them are you...because Porsche wont let you do that. Other than that, I have no ideas.
Good luck!

There are micro switches in the key- lock mechanism and sometimes they go bad.
Check the little black toothed roller in the door handle that triggers the micro switch. Before you go there, do a quick test of the micro switch.
Remove the door panel. at the bottom of the door is a white cable (Micro switch wires) with a connector.
Unplug the connector.
There are 3 pins,
1 - Common
2 - Open
3 - Close
Test for continuity between 1 and 2, and 1 and 3 - there should be none.
Key held on Lock position - beep on 1 and 3
Key held on Unlock position - beep on 1 and 2.
Good luck
And while you are there, you could jump the 1-2 and 1-3 pins (not at same time) to see if the solenoid fires. Door should be shut when testing.
