Here are photos of my replacement 996 wheel (it was virtually new when I purchased it) and then what it looks like now - about three years after having it thickened by AGLA.

IMHO, not nearly as nice as what the 968 left the factory with.

If you had your hands on the wheel, you'd literally feel very differently about it. The leather is baby-soft, delightful to grip. And, FWIW, you're looking at a wheel that's now several years, and probably 60k miles, used.
