While reading the post from Jeff on his new mint green convertible I noticed that his car is also fitted with a leather wrapped dash, just like mine (see attached pictures) I tried to find the number of this option in the owners manual, while looking at the sticker I noticed that the first stamp in this manual is from Porsche`s head office(see picture). Now I have a little thought....could this mean that promotional cars(i am not sure mine is...) all were fitted with these dashes or are there other cars that have this kind upholstery??

The early cars seem to have more of that. There is a 92 Amazon Green coupe here in town that the guy bought from the dealer new. It is a early one with the recessed badge, it has sport seats and LSD (no m030) and leather most everywhere in the car. He didn't order it that way, it was that way on the lot.

Rutger,
The full leather interior option can be found in the two character interior code. Different set ups got different two character alpha codes. You definately have the same interior as mine (different color). One of the reasons my car was used for promo purposes was that it was the 9th one made and one of the first to arrive in the US. Your VIN indicates that your car was produced much later but that doesn't mean it couldn't have been a promo car. Like you pointed out, it has an unusual stamp. My car didn't get a stamp until the first retail dealer put one in the book and as I said, the car had 1200 miles on it. I'm sure your car has some unusual story behind it. BTW, that leather interior option cost almost $5,000 in 1992 US dollars!!!! Do you have a leather wraped center console lid? If so, could you post a photo of it. Nice car, reminds me of my old 968.
I have 0086 its a coupe with 220 and heated seats! Cashmere interior but nothing really special about the car other than than recessed hood badge! Does anyone know how many #'s the factory kept to use for themselves and where the customer cars started? I have heard different #'s but the general idea was the first 60 vin #'s they keep! Jeff968 what is your vin# in the leather covered dash car if you dont mind me asking?
Boost, NS820086 would make your car the 26th 968 coupe sold in the US as they start at 61. My car is NS840069, #9. I run the cab registry and have 600+ cabs registered. The lowest number VIN I have for each year is in the 60s.
Here's a website I did with the details of my car.

Looks like a great deal at $200.00. With winter now here I have the time to start pulling things apart and letting it sit.
Great timing guys.
I love my 968 for what it is & don't hate it for what it isn't!

Boost,
The last cab I have registered with the recessed hood badge was in the lower 400s of the 92 VIN range and was produced in November 1991. Attached is a photo of the rear emblem.

Rutger, could that stamp mean the car was "delivery at the factory". I think my old 964 had the stuttgart stamp, and believe it had been picked up at the factory..

There is actually a specific option code for the North American 968s that inidcates factory pick-up.
