ACCELERATION IN EACH GEAR
#1

Here is a little spreadsheet/worksheet for you. The figures are gleeped from Autocar magazine May 27, 1992. It shows the stock times for acceleration in each gear, on a 6 speed car with 16" wheels. I have inserted columns for you to plug in your numbers.

Sweet, now to find 7 or 8 friends with stopwatches and a mile straightway to test my acceleration....

how would 17" wheels affect these numbers, since I'm guessing more than half of us have 17s on our cars ?

just to make it even more messed up, for example if my speedometer reads 70 mph, I'm actually going 72 ( tested on a stationary radar a few times )
because of the tire sizes I have on the front but those differences are probably negligible anyway as far as timing the runs go ; maybe a 1/20 second error on the stopwatch which is likely as much as will happen with human error on these exercises, so maybe a wash..

But the 17s might make a bigger diff.. ?
