a moment of silence for the passing..........
#1

while on my way back from the german autofest this past weekend i had to pause for a moment of silence as i realized that my car was passing from youth to old age (or more to the point from low mileage to high mileage)

side note - somehow my speedometer got stuck at 80 - i am SURE i wasn't driving that fast - that's my story and i'm sticking to it

bet I could get mine stuck higher.

50! Huh, your still a young buck . 50 is nothing compared to an old timer like me. "139" and I no longer have regrets of driving it too much. At a certain mileage point that whole preserve attitude goes out the window.

I love my 968 for what it is & don't hate it for what it isn't!

lol - yeah - that's super high in terms of resale, not that i give a hoot about resale - just a milestone that i paused for a minute to notice and realize that it's now just a car i can drive and enjoy, and not worry about so much

now if i just had somewhere i needed to go so i could drive the darned thing

If the weather holds out for this weekend I will be rolling past 50,000. 49,567 right now as she sits.

I'm kind of depressed.

yup - that's how i felt.........right up to the point where i did it - then, after about 5 miles, i opened her up to , um, well, "higher" speeds, and the depression faded with the realization that i didn't have to worry about things anymore

Ah yes, the folly of youth
Bought mine at 122K, now 150,618 and going strong. Think I'll sell before it gets to 666,666.
Got my 911 at 150K, and it went to 298K without opening any part of the long block.
I think our 968s will enjoy the same longevity, after all they are from Zuffenhausen not Neckarsulm, correct?

Roland

Here you can see, it is fine, just a couple of scratches.

Just did the 190,000 oil change with Canton filter.
I can't see stopping until I can't press in the clutch any more...and then my oldest son assures me that he will pick up where I left off.
Love to drive this car. I don't seem to recall this amount of pleasure with my 911's or American muscle cars. Who knows

Kim: That is just silly miles. Does anyone have more?

Flash: as etherjoe would say, "Good show old bean!"

I just cracked 76K miles but I remember hitting 50K miles like it was just yesterday...I knew the moment would come on my way to band practice and I had my cell phone camera ready. Stopped by the side of the road just by the "Citizens Gun Club" in West Windsor, NJ. It was a great moment for both us of us, a moment we will cherish together forever....

There was a guy at the Dutch get together who has 360 000 km on the clock, the car still looks pretty good.I never would have guessed it had such high mileage just from looking at the car.
