a/c grinding sound upon start
#1

Belts are fine and its not due to loose belt. When I engage the a/c every once in a while I hear what sounds like a metal on metal grinding sound.  Its not the squealing sounds that you hear when the belts are loose.  More like metal scraping another piece of metal or nails on a chalk board. Wink

It only last for 2-3 seconds when I first hit the a/c button.  It only happens once out of every 10 times the a/c is engaged. a/c blows fine.   Is there some grease point that I can get to easily to check and/or fill?

other possibilities I should look into?

TIA

Could be the compressor clutch, they can make a lot of noise

The "ears" on the compressor have been known to break off. You might want to inspect the unit.

I have the D1R support that avoids this issue, but, of course NLA.
