968 Original owner
#1

Plan on checking out a 968 with 93,000 miles. Owner says there may be an issue with the steering, otherwise good to very good condition. Are the racks known to go on these vehiles. Besides the pinion, things to be aware of.

Thanks

Power Steering hoses and Reservoirs leak like a sieve...

Yes, Racks go when the fluid is all gone...

Timing and Balance Shaft Belt changes are a Must Do... I like every 30K, but that's just me... do the water pump at the same time...

At 93K, look for a Service bill to replace the sliding chain ramps on the Variocam... and the Chain...

Engine Mounts... if it's vibrating at idle, it's time...

Dual mass Flywheel (and clutch) replaced? If not, you are getting very very close...

Heater Control Valve, DME Relay, and the list goes on...

Others will think of more, I'm sure...

Fresh Brake Fluid

Notice any vibrations coming through the shifter...DMF/Clutch

Well a little disappointing, very average condition. Took a pass on this one and am sure that it has sold today. Loved the gray exterior paint but I did not want to go through an entire car right now. Great track car.

Thanks

I think you'll find every car is going to need a good go thru, the age of them kind of dictates that. Not that playing with your new toy is a bad thing <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> .
