968 CS Wannabee
#1

So for fun and given I like to modify my cars to my taste, I decided to make my car a 968 CS almost clone in regards to specs and similar materials with some OEM decorative bits.

I am going for the near base model, with the addition of the Power Windows and Mirrors since I don't feel the minimal 10lbs of weight loss is worth the conversion time there.

My car was already set up for track duty, so I have a bunch of mechanical stuff done already, just looking to put the cat back in, and replaced fuel lines, and some other minor things such as a lighter battery.

I have sparco Evo seats, 5 point harness and bar etc.

My thoughts are to remove the rear hatch motor and track down how to mount the release for it, it looks to be the same for the cabrio rear pulls. The wiper motor has been pulled already, remove the wiring for the rear hatch and the switch for the motor.

I have pulled the blown front speakers, so the rears for NPR are enough for me (plus on track days radio is off) and plan to install some good 944 panels I got for a $100 with arm rests and pockets.

I would like to replace all the carpet from App Biz and remove the rear seats and carpet (the backs are gone already).

I have removed the rear seat belts but found there was an awe full lot of noise from the bolt holes in the bottom of the seat near the trans axle tube. So will most likely cut short metric bolts to plug those up.

Anyone on here with a CS that can send me some detail shots of their interior? Most of the differences I can find on the net but I can't see pictures of the hatch or lack seat belt setups for rear and front. Looks like the molded bumps in the rear for the re tractors are still there, but no slits. I have a friend in England I may request for a little help finding parts from a wrecker.

I assume there are new parts for the rear speaker b-c column covers, and maybe the rear carpet for the hatch is a little longer. Parts catalog is not clear on the CS.

Thanks for any help.

I hope this helps a bit...

The CS has the same carpet and speaker covers. The main different is the shelf which covers the rear seat area. You can find it in the seat specific parts catalog.

It does help thanks! There is actually a hole in the speaker covers panel, above the hatch release handle for the Frankenstein bolt that comes out to latch the rear seat tops that fold down or is that a plug instead. Can't recall at the moment, I have 3 holes, on for the seat belt upper mount, the privacy cover and the bolt for the seat back latch. I see your carpet does not have the hole for the seat-belt re tractor which is expected.

What do you have for the foot switch with the hood release and hatch button? At least I think it is one unit ( I never look at it and hardly ever open the hatch from inside)

Now to just source the parts <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

I don't mind making a knock off, I assume it is just a bracket, and a cable back to the release bar thingy ma bober?

Similar to this?

That's what I did with mine - you can buy the T-bar handle at any Home Depot, or Lowe's, or Orchard Supply, etc store and attach the cable to it.
