968 Blueprints
#1

Does anybody know if there are any publicly available 968 blueprints? I'd like to frame one if there are any good ones out there...

The closest thing to a blueprint I have seen is the cutaway artist rendering. Pretty nice for framing though. Here is an upsampled copy that was 1024 wallpaper.

Thanks for the picture, Dave. I printed it out on Photo paper at the highest dpi for my printer and it came out great. The only problem was the printing at the bottom.

Need to figure out how to get this in a poster size? Or wallpaper for my bedroom?

Wife unit would probably object but it might grow on her. Ha. Just as an aside I just got a Hasegawa 1:24 model from a friend who bought it on E-Bay. Now have a winter project. Will have to figure out how to put in the Air Box Mod (do you make your inserts in 1/24th scale), splitter, a set of Fikses and Adventurine Green paint. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

lol - that's as bad as me - i'm trying to figure out how to merge a 944 cab model with the 968 hardtop model so i can have a 968 cab

when i gave dave a copy of the porsche cd (thanks to ayn's ever vigilant ebay searches) with that shot on it, i didn't know well he could print it on his gimongous printer in 17x22 - he did though, and it looks great!!! i have yet to do it myself, since i don't have such a printer, but it is on the list

what printing on the bottom?

It's from 968forums.com It reads http://www.968forums.com/index.php?act=Att...pe=post&id=1554. I guess I can crop the picture so that it doesn't show. I could also put a mat around it. I saved the picture and maybe I'll go to a photo shop to see if they can make a big print. I'm out and about this PM (my mechanic says I don't drive the car enough as I had to replace the battery on Monday) to get some supplies for the model and I will inquire about getting a big printat a photo store. If someone comes across a 1/24th model with BBS wheels I would buy for the wheels. That's as close as I can think of to Fikses.

i don't see any printing at the bottom - what does it say? are you talking about the artist's signature, nearly at the center of the page, at the rocker panel?

kinkos can probably print it for you - use at least semi-gloss poster stock though

lol - sorry to hear you are forced to endure the unbearable trials and tribulations of having to drive your car

You are printing from the web browser. If you click the thumbnail above to display the image, then RIGHT click the large image and select SAVE AS. You will then have a copy on your computer you can use any way you like without the browser info.

years ago someone kindly sent me a very-hi-res scan of that image, carefully stitched together from how it crosses the fold in the 968 brochures and excellently descreened, AND I LOST IT. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

That is a much better res version than what I had used as a desktop background for several years... now to Photoshop it into Amazon Green <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Thanks for the tip Dave. Sometime my internet skills are some what lacking. I did save in anticipation of using it for future use. Went to the hobby store and stocked up on supplies for the 968 model. May have found a color close to Adventurine Green. I just don't want to make of mess putting it together. I used to do models all the time when I was MUCH younger. Kinko's is a good suggestion. Maybe they can even change the color to a greenish color.

Sorry for the O/T post, but Cosimo have you considered ordering paint from http://paintscratch.com/ ?

I believe your 968 is one of the color codes 39R, 39S or K6 which they have available.

Bruce, thanks for the tip on the paint. I will certainly try it. I think I have found some model spray paint at the hobby store yesterday and it is very close. Not close enough for my car. I do need some paint for my wife's Audi. There is a stone chip on the hood. As an another digression, I heard about some "polish" that "fills" in paint scratchs on one of the "garage" shows on Speed channel. The product was Presto. I order some and will report how well it works unless someone out there has already tried it. I have some scratchs that won't rub out and would look better if they blend in.

cosimo - I also have a 968 model that I'm going to build to look like my car. I used to build models and sell them. I'm waiting for a pair of turbo twists before I start my model. I found almost an exact match for my color right off the shelf.

I am fairly skeptical of anything that has a "As Seen On TV" label. But the first info I found on Presto is this ebay ad

This would be a very cheap way to fix scratches. Do you have access to a beater or a car in a junk yard to try it on. From the description it sounds like it would be very difficult to get this stuff out of the scratch once it is in there.

I don't have a beater. Maybe I could try it on my wife or on our cats. I know the guys on Two Guys Garage hawk a lot of products, some of which sound pretty good. I have a fairly deep scratch on front "bumper". I stupidly pulled forward in a parking garage thinking I was in reverse. DUH. I've tried all the so called scratch removers and none seem to work. I will eventually need the front end repainted so I'll give it a try.

Silver Bullet your car is silver. Don't mean to be a smart ass but was it hard to find that color. Mine is Aventurine Green (note spelling). I notice that some parts for the 1/24th model are awfully small. Could be worse and be a 1/43rd. I will probably have to go with the factory wheels as looking for BBSs in 1/24th might take a while, if ever.

Also ordered some paint for the Audi from paintscratch. I already have some touch up Aventurine Green (note spelling) used left over from the splitter paint job.

If this Presto really works I do have a fair number of scratchs on the splitter.

But I ramble on and on. Ciao.

I'm the fool who spent way too much time in Photoshop doing this. If someone wants a copy, let me know.
