968 Assemby Line
#1

Oldies, but Goodies

And for good measure...a picture of me @ the 1991 NYIAS in front of a 968 Cab. :-)

*Edit, attached is a photo of Ferry Porsche standing next to a completed 968 @ the end of the assembly line. Sorry, this is the best resolution i could get.

I was going to post another pic i had but now cant for the life of me find it. If someone has this picture, please post it so i can add it back into my collection.....

Very Famous pic of Dr. Porsche standing along side a Finished Porsche 968 at the end of the assembly line. I know most of you have seen it before. It was used as a press photo.

Would be greatly apreciated if anyone can post it.

Join the club. I could have sworn i had it on my PC. It used to be posted on the old .net sight in the photo gallery section up untill last week. Now there are no pictures there.

Hopefully someone on here has it saved.

Dino,
I have those line shots in one of the 968 books. That said, the one of you at the show is my favorite. hey, did you get the VIN off of that red cab?

You have been a long time fan Dino. That is a cool pic. I assume you'll one day have it framed and in the garage next to your 68.

Jeff,

I wish, it would be cool to know who actually owns the car in that pic and if he/she is a member here.

Rhudeboy (BTW, i don't think i've ever told you; but your handle kicks butt),

Funny you mention that, as it was in my plans.

I'm going to tile and repaint the garage this summer. At that point All my Porsche stuff is gonna go up. Certificates of authenticity for all the P Cars i've owned, This picture, a 968 Poster i have, a P Flag, & my "Porsche parking only, all other will be towed" sign. I'm also going to to have pictures made of all the assembly line shots i get and frame those as well.

I've never seen the Dr. Porsche photo in front
of a 968. I'd love to see it.

I doubt the convertible at the car show was sold
to the public.

I emailed Ray (owner of the .net sight) to see if he still has the picture. He should, so hopefully he can forward it to me and i'll post it here.

I wouldnt doubt the red cab was sold to the public. Having worked in the Auto business for the last 7 years, i can tell you that many manufacturers sell cars to the public after auto shows. Porsche has sold prototypes to people as well.

Fox944 -

Thanks so much for posting those pics. Love the one of you standing there, probably wishing you had a driver's license!

Just awesome. I have never seen the pic of Dr. Porsche - that would be cool if anyone can post that.

Thanks again.

I have the picture of the Doc next to the new horizon blue 968 coupe. I'll have to find it and get you a scan.

BTW, of the first 10 968 cabs produced for the North American market, 5 were red with a black top and interior. Attached is a rear end picture of #10. I wonder which one is in the photo with you?

Jeff, its 1 of 5 then. How many of those 5 had 17" wheels?

Added a low resolution photo of the doc with a 968 @ the assembly line (to the original post)

Hmmm, none of them!!! You don't get to a red/black/black 17" wheel car until #50! However, #2 was a red, black top, 17"s, but it had a classic gray interior. Sure looks black in your photo.
