New member and searching future porsche owner
#1

Hello everyone. I am looking forward to getting full access and reaping the benefits of all your experience. I am 53 yo, live in Austin Texas and have never owned a Porsche but have decided it is time to endulge myself.

I have been looking at 944 turbo coupes, 944S2 Cabs and a couple of 968 Cabs. A huge variation in the care that these cars have seen which is a bit of a challenge for a newby. Any insights as to 87 944 turbo versus 91 944 S2 versus a 968 would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome! I have owned 3 944 turbos and my current '94 968. The turbo cars are very fast and respond very well to mods. I would ask what do you want to do with the cars? Do you want to modify or keep it stock? If you want a relatively trouble free car, I would shy away from the turbos. The fit and finish of the 968 is much better in my opinion compared to the 944s. It is a much more striking car, in my opinion of course. Another bonus to the 968 is the relative rarity of the car. People don't know what it is and it is a great conversation piece. If it were me, 968 all the way. I'm sure others will chime in shortly.

I have owned both a 944 N/A and 968.. no turbo experience, but I will say that the 968 responds worlds better both on the road and at the conversation table. This Forum comes up as well, with its camaraderie and wealth of info. I have to give thumbs up the the 968 out of those three....

I have both a 968 and a 951.
I think the 968 is a better overall car that is far more reliable and "easier"
to live with on a daily basis.
Although the 951 is the one to take to a street fight.

That being said, I'm thinking of getting rid of the 968 and keeping the 951 at the moment.
