I charge my 92 (also retrofitted to 134a) at the compressor.

You always charge from the blue low pressure side and not the red high pressure side. With the R134A fittings they made it so they were different and the charge hose wouldn't attach to the high side. If they put the fittings on properly charge from the blue port. Your probably need to dig into it and replace all the o-rings in the systems and possibly the hoses.

Check and make sure the color codes are correct. The low pressure fitting on my 92 is right by the compressor and I put the car up on ramps to access it.

Also make sure that the compressor is not kickin on when you turn on the A/C. The warm air could be a result of a broken head-unit linkage clip. This will allow hot air to overpower the a/c and the unit does not need a recharge, but a clip-fix.

Good point, it could also be a leaking heater valve letting hot water into the exchanger.
Looks like a port on the line at the drier is a high side port:

Conversion kits usually come with two conversion ports that screw in on top of the R12 ports, maybe these ports were put on wrong. the 968 low and high side schrader valve ports for R12 are the same size.

If you remove the fittings you will have to pull a vaccum on the system before you recharge because there will be air in the system. What a pain.

The fittings are definitely switched around. The original Schrader valve should still be in there, so removing that fitting shouldn't open the system up. Just pull them off and swap them around. Any A/C expert should now that the receiver/drier is the high side, why they did that is beyond me. You could always go back to that shop and say fix your mistake.

Can you switch the caps? If so maybe the caps are just on wrong and the fittings are correct?
