2 cups are better than 1
#1

as we all know, cupholders are a problem in this car. where to put them, how to put them in without drilling, what they look like, yada yada.

many years ago i installed the one from 9xauto. nice unit, and no drilling or modifications required.

but that only gave me one, and where they wanted you to put it was a bit out of reach for the driver.

taking a cue from bva, i ordered a second one, and modified the bracket it came with and fitted it behind the other one. i used the forward shifter plate screw to attach it.

now i have 2, one right behind the other, and the rear one is easy to reach from the driver seat.

My wedge holds two cups as well. But since i installed sport seats, it doesn't wedge itself down as deep as it use to. The sport seats are wider and leave little room between the center console and seat.

So because the sport seats are here to stay, I think I'll need to order one of those fold down holders.

why would you go to all the trouble to install not just one but two cup holders, I mean.. the wife has two hands doesn't she ?! . :-) :-)

( lucky my wife does not read the forum or her two hands might be wrapped around my neck.. :-) )

lol - it was driven by two things:

1. the location of the forward one, which is what they designed it for, is a bit forward, and i had to reach over quite a bit to get to it. that made it potentially dangerous.

2. while the wife has 2 hands, she is usually bashing me with one of them, and since she had to balance herself somewhat with the other, in order to reach over and do that, it meant having to put down her drink

now that i think about it, i'm obviously not very bright, as i have now made it very easy for her to smack me

Ayn sounds like she needs a communication consultant. Small whiffle bats are more effective than hands!

Paint the screw heads black. Also, a flatter phillips may look more finished.

Sorry. Sitting around out of town with nothing to do and just couldn't resist.

just did a 300 mile loop to santa barbara and back. the new cupholder location is EXCELLENT. very easy to reach, and yet out of the way.
