Considering selling my Blk/Blk MO30 Coupe w/LSD
#41

Agreed.......In retrospect most of my post probably would have best been sent in a PM to the seller, but when i did not here mention of the clutch replacement i felt obligated to post.

Imagine if you bought the car and a few weeks later after becoming more intimate with it you realized you had a sizeable repair bill that was not disclosed. Again its a black car and if not in real nice condition paint wise it will make you wish you bought a silver or white car. Mint Black M030's are certainly worth every penny. The difference from a daily driver needing a major service is in the eye of the beholder. The labor from a midwest Porsche repair facility compared to a So Cal facility is like comparing apples to oranges. Parts and labor in the $2500 to $3k range are very appropriate and not exagerated for So. Cal. Parts prices posted on Pelicans website are not coming down soon unless you can purchase at a jobbers rate but i can't.

I would say the car is definately worth it to the right buyer as long as he knows and is expecting to do a clutch replacement and other issues of a high mileage daily driver. Still a great car. John all the best to you and your sale.

E-mail from M030

Hello,

This is not a concourse car as it is my daily driver but shows beautifully in person. There is peppering on the rocker panels and that is the only place you will see it. There is a small chip on the roof and another on the upper hood which must have just happened. The entire front end was recently repainted and looks amazing. The car shows great and turns a lot of heads everywhere I go. The clutch and water pump have not been relaced. I put a set of new Kumho STP 225/40 ZR18 fronts and 265/35 ZR18 rears lastweek (Highest rated tire of it's type). Also new brake pads and new MO30 front sway bar bushings. A/C works great. The odometer reads 120,300 miles as this is my daily driver. The cam chain tensioner was replaced with al the belts and rollers in May of 2006. The radiator, heater valve, hoses and thermostat were replaced 11/05. Oil & filter, battery, timing belt, head gasket set, cylinder head plug, injector seals, heater hose core to head all replaced 3/07. I also have the original 968 series hardback sales brochure and 911,968, 928GTS sales pamphlet. The tool kit is intact as are the original gloves and towel in the concealed engine compartment. I have a copy of the certificate of origin and the original window sticker.

I would not be interested in a trade. I may consider spliting the cost of a pending issue of clutch repair that sort of thing ( my mechanic says the clutch is not slipping and does not need replace yet). I am not at all interested in a low ball "CASH" offer as this is not that type of car and I am not in any particular hurry to sell.

The options are;

Limited Slip

MO30

Protective side moldings

partial leather front seats

Hi-Fi Sound Package 10 speaker/Amp

People hear what they want to hear. Thats why the WHOLE QUOTE SHOULD BE BOLD!

This PM you are quoting from is when I had the car priced @ $15,000 NOT $13,500 as it is now.

Also, IF my car did need a clutch replaced it would cost $1,100 from my mechanic here in San Diego. Last time I checked WE ARE STILL IN SO CAL!

If you are sincere Sker66 with your well wishes then move on to another car and stay out of my transaction. Your not helping me, yourself, or others with the real value or cost to maintain my car or other 968ers for that matter.
wow - and even after i spoke to you i still assumed there was a previous conversation that included the need for the clutch - i didn't even think to ask if it actually needed it, not that it should matter anyway, since the price is so low

this is what assumptions can do

there is a white gloves concours in huntington beach sunday - good shot for showing it
Bob, (AKA Bruce? - I know a guy named Bruce Larson so it just rolled of my tongue...sorry about that) Thanks for the tip on the concours in HB. My schedule this weekend as I mentioned is full with tennis tournaments for my son and I which is typical. Another reason I have not put the time into selling the 968.

I had my car inspected last week by a well known PCA racer and mechanic here in the San Diego area.

The bottom line is he told me what he felt was a very fair asking price for the car considering what it would take to fix some oil leaks and steering rack leaks. He said $12,500 would still be a fair price.

Therefore I've adjusted my price accordingly to sell the car.

$12,000 with extra set of wheels $11,500 without wheels

SERIOUS ONLY!! AND NO TRADE OFFERS PLEASE!!

I WILL REPLY TO EMAILS AND PMS ONLY. My email is jybrod@cox.net

FWIW, the COMPLETE new Clutch, PP, DM Flywheel, Throwout Bearing, PP Bolts, Flywheel Bolts, and every last part you can think of to do the clutch job including the Flywheel Lock, was right at $1,800.00, and only after price shopping all of the 968 parts suppliers...

And yes, you can replace the whole kit and kaboodle in about 4 hours of concentrated effort, with good tools... and on ramps (front and rear!).

Too bad I missed this listing... I would have spent the money to get her back to Indiana... like I need another Porsche!!!
