Öhlins chat
#1

Had a set of 996 wheels delivered to me yesterday. The seller turned out to be an engineer at Öhlins, known for their shock absorbers so I asked him what he felt would be the main difference using Öhlins rather than the LEDA stuff. He said that one of the areas they put a lot of energy into is minimizing friction. This means that the shocks are more responsive to small movements giving a more compliant/comfortable feel even on a very stiff car. Sounds interresting since my car now is for someone very enthusiasic, like me being lucky with a very understanding girlfriend.

We never got to the performance advantages but will get back on this matter-.

Anyone on the forum having Öhlins experience?

Wish I could afford them so I could discuss them.

Back in my Motocross days I had experience with lots of Euro dampers.

White Power, Ohlins, Koni,Bilstein Fox (USA) Works Performance (USA )

I provided remote resovoir shocks to Honda for production Road Racing

I extensively modified Ohlins valving to achieve wonderful results.

My only issue with Ohlins was leaking seals. I'm sure they fixed this.

I would love to test Ohlins on a 968

Is it ok to say that linsey racing have Ohlins for the 968, mega money , but at the exchange rate for us brits not a bad deal i suppose, nearly bought them last year worked out about 2000.00 gbp but was advised against them for road work, maybe some time in the future when my bilsteins are fuc*&^, REGARDS PAZZER.

Perfectly fine to say it- and I'm sure the exchange rate makes a lot of things over here attractive to you, even with the VAT.

For the money I'd think about Motons or possibly Penske.

It's amazing how their reputation precedes them obviously largely to do with cost. I wonder just how much better they are than Motons, KW's, Intrax, Koni etc Be interesting to have a detailed review oneday. Have all the leading brands put up their best shot on some front, rear, and all wheel drive cars and do some really comprehensive objective and subjective testing. Can't see it happening though.
